After his postdoctoral studies at INAOE, Dr. Herrera joined the Researchers for Mexico Program of the National Council of Humanities, Sciences, and Technologies (CONAHCYT) and was assigned to the Center for Research and Technological Development in Electrochemistry, S.C. (CIDETEQ). At CIDETEQ, Dr. Herrera collaborated with the National Laboratory of Micro and Nanofluidics (LabMyN) and contributed to the recognition of the CONAHCYT National Laboratory of Impedance and Bioimpedance (LANCIBi)
Since 2017, his research has focused on developing technologies for monitoring water quality and people’s emotional states. Among his most recent contributions are the development of biosensors for detecting E. coli bacteria, the creation of molecularly imprinted polymers for detecting emerging contaminants in water, and the design of electronic equipment for the health and environmental sectors.
Dr. Herrera has published numerous articles in national and international journals, sharing the results of his research. His work spans the simulation, microfabrication, and characterization of electronic and electrochemical devices, with a strong focus on technology applied to health and the environment. Currently, Dr. Herrera is part of the ONCHIP research group at the School of Electrical, Electronic, and Telecommunications Engineering (E3T) at the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS)
