GENERAL
Biography
Carlos Alberto García Ramírez since 1993 is a tenured Professor at the School of Geology of Universidad Industrial de Santander in Bucaramanga, Colombia. His professional and scientific experience has been developed studying igneous-metamorphic complexes of crystalline massifs of Ukraine and Colombia, as well as applying petrology and mineralogy in the investigation of banded Precambrian iron ore deposits, epithermal Au and Ag, kaolin and lateritic Fe-Ni.

During his 30 years of university career, he has taught the courses of Igneous Petrology, Metamorphic Petrology, Field Geology II, Field Geology III, Fundamentals of Mining, and Process Mineralogy. He is the author of 50 scientific papers. He was the founder of the Research Group in Basic and Applied Geology;
Director of the School of Geology of Universidad Industrial de Santander (2000-2002) and Director of research and extension of the same university’s Faculty of Physicochemical Engineering (2009-2013). For 10 years he was Editor of the journal Boletín de Geología (1999-2009) and has been Associate Editor of the journal Andean Geology. He is a member of the Colombian Society of Geology, Geological Society of America, and Society of Geochemistry. In 2008 he received the distinction of Full Professor Laureate of the Academic Council of Universidad Industrial de Santander.
