Professor at the School of Electrical, Electronics, and Telecommunications Engineering. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira, as well as a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on Energy from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul in Porto Alegre, Brazil. A Senior Researcher recognized by the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (Minciencias), his main areas of interest include planning schemes for Advanced Distribution Automation, with a particular focus on functionalities related to fault detection, location, and isolation, as well as distribution system restoration. He has supervised more than eight master’s and doctoral theses and has published over 20 articles in international journals on topics related to power system planning and operation.
