GENERAL

Biography

Professor Diego Fernando Villegas Bermudez has approximately 15 years of teaching experience, including 7 years abroad, where he held the positions of Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Turabo (UT) in Puerto Rico. Throughout his career, he has excelled in the field of biomechanics and has been actively involved in research since 2005. He has published more than a dozen articles in international journals and has presented about ten papers at the international level.

Additionally, he has advised approximately 30 graduate works related to the design of lower limb prostheses, orthoses, and medical devices, using computational and analytical tools. He has also conducted and provided guidance on experimental work in the field of soft tissue biomechanics.


During his career, Dr. Villegas has received several awards, including a research fellowship from the School of Graduate Studies at MTU and third place in the amount of external funding awarded by UT in 2011.
