GENERAL

Biography

Professor Guillermo Andrés Díaz Flórez holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Universidad Nacional de San Juan, Argentina, with a DAAD scholarship. He conducted a doctoral research stay at the High Voltage Engineering Institute (IFHT) of RWTH Aachen University in Aachen, Germany, and a postdoctoral research stay in the High Voltage Technology (HVT) group at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), supervised by Prof. Hans Kristian Høidalen. He worked as a design engineer and researcher at Siemens Andina Transformers for a period of 8 years. Currently, he is a tenured Professor of Electric Machines and Transformers in the Electrical Engineering Program at the Universidad Industrial de Santander.

He has extensive experience and expertise in advanced electromagnetic modeling of power transformers under both steady-state and transient conditions.

Currently, he is conducting research in the area of high-voltage transient phenomena in power systems, with a special focus on the high-frequency interaction of critical components such as power transformers, cables, and transmission lines.
