ESCALANTE HERNÁNDEZ
GENERAL
Biography
Professor Escalante embarked on his master’s degree in biotechnology in 1988, complementing his education with internships in Chile and Argentina to broaden his knowledge and expertise. Following this, he ventured into collaborating with the electroplating and mining sectors, focusing on the vital task of remediating their effluents. In 2010, upon the completion of the project “Atlas of the Energy Potential of Residual Biomass in Colombia,” his research trajectory took a significant turn as he delved into the realm of anaerobic digestion. His initial investigations were conducted on a modest scale of 500ml. As a professor at the School of Chemical Engineering, he embraces a sense of gratitude for the opportunities life has presented him, enabling his continuous professional and personal growth. The satisfaction he derives from installing 8m cubic bioreactors for farmers or spearheading the start-up of 640m cubic biodigesters for companies is immeasurable, as these endeavors not only contribute to his field’s advancement but also have tangible impacts on the agricultural and industrial sectors, exemplifying the practical applications of his research.
