GENERAL

Biography

Professor John Faber Archila Díaz is a Senior Researcher recognized by MinCiencias. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Machine Dynamics and Systems from the University of São Paulo EESC-USP. Additionally, he earned a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Robotics and Design from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro UFRJ. He is also an expert in Mechatronic Engineering and a Mechanical Engineer from Universidad Industrial de Santander, UIS, Colombia.

As a Laureate Full Professor, he serves as an Investigator and Director of the Robotics and Industrial Design Research Group (GIROD) and the DIRO seedbed. He is also a researcher in the GECAFD group.

His expertise spans Mechanical, Mechatronic, and Industrial Design, Biomechanics, Technologies applied to sports, Materials, and CAD-CAE-CAM simulation. He has extensive experience in Industrial Robotics, Mobile Robotics, Agricultural, Sports, and Industrial Automation, as well as in Hydraulics and Control. Professor Archila Díaz has participated in various events, including ICIEA, LARS, ROBOCONTROL, COBEM, CONEM, AGMUS, CLAWAR, ICAM, CIETA, and contributed to projects with industries such as CIC, ESSI, FCV, QUIRURGICOS ESPECIALIZADOS, PROYECTOS Y SERVICIOS, EMBRAPA, CENPES, MARCHESAN.

He has been appointed as an academic peer by the National Accreditation Council (CNA) of the Ministry of National Education (MEN) in Colombia and by institutions in Brazil for Technology, Engineering, and Master’s programs. Professor Archila Díaz also serves as an evaluator for MinCiencias, OCyT, Avanciencia, ACAC, UNAL, UTP, UTP (Peru), as well as national and international scientific journals.

His intellectual contributions include 27 articles in journals, 105 presentations at national and international events, 6 granted national patents, and 1 under evaluation at the SIC. He has directed and evaluated over 70 projects at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, authored of 2 books, and contributed to 24 book chapters. He has served as a jury member in evaluation committees and has been appointed as a peer by the CNA-MEN on 15 occasions, including 4 as a Friend Peer and 3 as an International Peer.
