General
Description
Professor at the School of Chemical Engineering, with experience in the areas of bioprocesses and the synthesis and analysis of chemical processes. She has a strong vocation and passion for teaching and research in chemical engineering. She is currently an Associate Researcher (Minciencias).
Her research interests include the characterization and valorization of various lignocellulosic biomasses, the application of enzyme engineering, the design of biorefineries, and the development and design of innovative processes and products in the food industry. She also focuses on obtaining raw materials or natural products with applications in biomimetics and/or cosmetics.
Her work is centered on the transformation of Colombian agro-industrial raw materials, such as cape gooseberry husks, avocado seeds, brewery spent grain, pressed palm fiber, and starchy materials like yam and cassava. These transformations align with the principles of sustainable development, green chemistry, and the blue economy, promoting environmental preservation and respect.
