GENERAL
Biography
Since joining UIS, she has actively contributed to all three of its mission areas. In the teaching mission, she has served as a professor and coordinator for undergraduate courses in Medicine, as well as postgraduate courses in Health Services Administration and the Master’s in Epidemiology. Moreover, she has had the privilege of coordinating these two graduate programs, and for a period of time, assumed the role of director of the Department of Public Health.
Within the realm of research, she has collaboratively authored and executed over 15 projects with external funding, in addition to multiple projects funded by UIS itself. These projects have yielded practical solutions to issues affecting the accessibility, equity, quality, and timeliness of healthcare.
Furthermore, her extensive contributions in terms of publishing articles, supervising specialization, master’s, and doctoral theses, as well as conducting knowledge dissemination activities, have earned her the designation of Senior Researcher by the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation since 2016.
Simultaneously, her involvement in the extension mission axis has enabled her to provide guidance and technical direction for inter-administrative agreements in the field of public health management. These efforts are directed at enhancing the health authority in the department and the municipality of Bucaramanga.
