GENERAL
Biography
Professor Piedad Arenas Díaz is a prominent figure at the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) with an extensive academic and professional background. In 2023, she is pursuing a Doctorate in Technological Innovation Management at the Universidad de los Andes.
Focused on research and management, Professor Arenas Díaz has led projects such as “Technical Assistance for the Assessment of IT Competencies at Ecopetrol” in 2019 and has served as the Principal Investigator in the project “Conceptualization and Instrumentation of the Cooperation Model for Innovation, UIS-ECP Alliance”.

At the regional level, she spearheaded the formulation of the Departmental Plan for Science, Technology, and Innovation (PEDCTI) for the Santander Department in 2020 and participated in the Santander and Magdalena Medio Oil and Gas Cluster initiative. Internationally, she coordinated the RED-SUMA Project funded by the European Commission and was part of the technical team of the Latin American Intellectual Property Network (PILA).
At UIS, she has held key roles, including Human Resources Manager, Director of the School of Industrial and Business Studies, and Director of Planning, contributing to academic advancement and development at the university.
