GENERAL
Biography
Professor Víctor Mauricio Herrera Galindo is a physician with a master’s degree in Population Health and a doctorate in Epidemiology, both degrees obtained at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Herrera has 12 years of experience in the field of epidemiology, specifically, in the area of vector-borne diseases, as a result of his participation as a methodological advisor and researcher of studies related to Chagas disease and those transmitted by Aedes aegypti in the context of cross-sectional studies for the determination of seroprevalence of infections by dengue viruses. Chikungunya and Zika, as well as prospective cohort studies for the determination of risk and prognostic factors in these conditions.

Another area of Dr. Herrera’s current research is environmental health, in which he has conducted studies for the construction of surfaces of exposure to air pollutants combining satellite information with that of the field, as well as the evaluation of the impact of such exposures on chronic non-communicable diseases. Additionally, Dr. Herrera is a member of the data safety monitoring data (DSMB) committees of two vaccine clinical trials (SARS-CoV-2 and Chikungunya) supervised by the International Vaccine Institute (IVI), as well as a reviewer for journals such as Plos Neglected Tropical Diseases and International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. among others.
