GENERAL
Biography
Dr. Arbeláez-Cortés is a tenured professor at the Universidad Industrial de Santander, affiliated with the School of Biology in the Faculty of Sciences. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Universidad del Valle, earning a degree in Biology. Subsequently, he obtained a Master’s degree in Biological Sciences at the Universidad Autónoma de México, where he also completed his doctorate in Biological Sciences.
Read moreEnrique Arbeláez’s area of expertise is in natural and biological sciences, including zoology, ornithology, entomology, behavioral biological sciences, genetics, heredity, biodiversity conservation, ecology, and theoretical, mathematical, cryobiology, and evolutionary biology.
His research interests encompass various areas, such as the Phylogeography of Mesoamerican Birds, Diversity and Ecology of Birds in the Quindío and Central Andes of Colombia, as well as the Genetics of Mangrove Populations of the Colombian Pacific.
Currently, he serves as a Professor of Evolution, and holds the positions of Curator for the Bird Collection and the Tissue Collection at the Natural History Museum. He is also a research associate of the Biodiversity Studies Group.
