Biography
Professor Fabio boasts an impressive athletic background spanning two decades, during which he actively participated as an athlete and proudly represented the Colombian national team. Notably, he had the honor of carrying the Olympic flame from Paris to Barcelona for the Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992. His exceptional running skills earned him the title of national marathon champion in Colombia in both 1992 and 1996. Additionally, he secured a bronze medal in the marathon category at the national games held in Barranquilla in 1992 and Bucaramanga in 1996. His remarkable achievements continued as he emerged as the European champion in the mountain marathon event in Switzerland in 1996. Demonstrating his prowess as a master athlete, he clinched the title of world champion in the 3000 meters with obstacles category in Puerto Rico in 2003.
Read moreRecognizing his expertise, he was appointed as an IAAF national athletics trainer in 1996. He further honed his coaching skills by pursuing studies in athletics coaching at the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation in Barcelona, Spain, in 1991. Sharing his wealth of knowledge, he serves as a lecturer for the Colombian Association of Master Athletics, known as Atlemaster. Presently, he holds the esteemed position of professor of physical culture and athletics at the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS), where he continues to inspire and educate students in the field.
