GENERAL
Biography
Jorge Luis Chacón Velasco joined the School of Mechanical Engineering at the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) as a professor in 1990. He is one of the founders of the GIEMA research group in 2003.
Before joining the UIS, he gained professional experience as a Mechanical Engineer at CODIESEL, CUMMINS API, and UTS, from 1985 to 1990. He obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 2001 from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia and his DEA in Computer Science and Automatic Control in 1998 from the Université Haut Alsace in Mulhouse, France. He also received his BS degree in Mechanical and Automotive Engineering from the Belarusian National Technical University in Minsk, Belarus, in 1985.

His area of expertise and research directions encompass Internal Combustion Engines, Energy Conversion Systems, Sustainable Development, Automotive Engineering, Artificial Intelligence Applications, High Performance Computing, and Computational Mechanics. He focuses on Modeling and Simulation of Energy Conversion Systems, DFI, and Automatic Control of Mechanical Systems, Neurofuzzy Systems, Machine Learning, and CFD simulations. His extensive background and experience in these areas have made him a leading expert in the engineering field.
