He also holds a PhD in Geology from Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain), where he carried out his doctoral research in Petrology and Geochemistry of lithologies affected by fluid-rock interaction processes. He has a Post-Doctorate at the Mineral Deposit Research Unit (MDRU) of the Department of Earth and Ocean Sciences (EOS)-University of British Columbia (Vancouver, BC, Canada) in igneous processes and their associated metallogenesis.
He has experience in geological cartography, studies of genesis and exploration of mineral deposits (emeralds, precious metals, others), and in igneous and metamorphic processes of low temperature. He has researched topics related to the physical-chemistry of hydrothermal paleofluids, geochemistry of major, minor and trace elements, and geochemistry of radiogenic and stable isotopes. Among the analytical techniques that he has worked extensively are: microthermometry in fluid inclusions, microraman, ICP-Masses, SEM, electron microprobe, flame photometry, among others.
