GENERAL
Biography
Mauricio Rincón Ortiz is a professor at the School of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science at the Universidad Industrial de Santander. He holds a PhD in Science and Technology with a specialization in materials from the Instituto de Tecnología Sabato, affiliated with the Universidad Nacional de General San Martín-Argentina. Additionally, he has a degree in Materials Engineering from the Universidad de Antioquia, Colombia.

With 18 years of experience, he is a highly regarded researcher acknowledged by Minciencias. He was formerly associated with the National Center for Education and Research in Corrosion and Materials Performance (NCERCAMP) at the University of Akron, USA. Currently, he is an active member of the Research Group in Development and Technology of New Materials (GIMAT). Throughout his career, he has authored over 20 articles published in prestigious scientific journals, covering diverse areas such as engineering, corrosion, coatings, composites, and welding.
His contributions have been recognized through several accolades. In 2006, he received the Student Research Award, and in 2018, he was honored with the Engineer Sower of Stars distinction, both bestowed by the University of Antioquia.
