GENERAL
Biography
Professor Juan Pablo Flórez Mera has outstanding experience in the field of thermal sciences, with a specific focus on analytical and numerical mathematical modeling (CFD) applied to phase change heat exchangers, HP heat pipes, LHP loop heat pipes, thermosyphons, and compact heat exchangers. His expertise spans various industrial applications, including the oil industry, food, high-temperature solar thermal generation (sodium), and electronic thermal control of high and low-power components, with applications in aircraft and microgravity environments.
Read moreMoreover, he has actively participated in research and development projects for new products in these areas, engaging in experimental work, prototyping, fabrication, and assembly of laboratory models. Additionally, he has worked as a consultant in an engineering company called QPrime Engenharia Ltda., focusing on the development of phase change heat exchangers.
In the academic arena, Professor Flórez Mera has published research papers in international journals and conferences, and has provided guidance to undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students. He has also served as an occasional full-time professor at the University of Pamplona and has been involved in the Rio Verde mission of the Brazilian Space Agency, where he contributed to the development of heat pipes for space applications. Furthermore, he has collaborated on application development projects for the aeronautical industry of EMBRAER.
In the realm of alternative energies, he has conducted research on the analysis and modeling of the hydrodynamic boundary layer to evaluate wind power generation systems and high-temperature solar thermal generation.
Professor Flórez Mera is recognized for his responsibility, problem-solving skills, and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams. Currently, he is completing a specialization in the area of computational fluid mechanics (CFD).
