GENERAL
Biography
Some interdisciplinary research projects that have favored the training of a significant number of undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students in programs of Microbiology, Basic Sciences, Chemistry, Biology and Chemical Engineering.
In addition, the results obtained have allowed the development of scientific publications in world-renowned journals, national and international congresses and three patents, among others. Some projects are listed below:
- Immobilization of lipases to obtain value-added products.
- Bioethanol production from bitter cassava starch, using Zymomonas mobilis and Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
- Methane gas production from fique residues.
- Design and Synthesis of Antimicrobial Peptides (PAMs)
- Design and synthesis of nanoparticles with antimicrobial activity and their functionalization with PAMs.
- Proteomic study of the mechanisms of action of antimicrobial peptides (PAMs).
- Obtaining value-added products from glycerol, using enzymes of microbial origin.
- Development of a biocide against biofilm-forming bacteria in biocorrosion processes in the oil industry.
- Development of prototypes with antimicrobial activity against pathogenic and resistant bacteria and yeasts, using essential oils and vegetable extracts from Colombian aromatic plants.
