Description

Professor Adrián Alzate García has an extensive career as a lecturer and researcher in the fields of social, political, and legal history in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries in Colombia and Latin America. His research interests include the study of nineteenth-century legal culture in the Atlantic world, legal agency and political experiences of subaltern groups, the legal dimensions of civil wars, as well as the social construction of law and crime and the administration of justice during the republican period. He also has research experience in topics related to conflict, peacebuilding, and unarmed civilian protection in recent Colombian history.

As a faculty member of the School of History at the Universidad Industrial de Santander, Professor Alzate is part of the research group Estudios Históricos en Redes Sociales (ESHIRES), where he conducts research on borders and transnational activism in Colombia at the end of the nineteenth century.
