He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and has served in academia both as faculty and as an administrator at various higher-education institutions in Colombia. He also brings professional and consulting experience with ESSA S.A. E.S.P. He is currently engaged in designing systems for the automatic operation of distribution networks with high integration of non-conventional renewable energy sources (FNCER); developing market mechanisms for the fair incorporation of flexibility in wholesale electricity markets; and designing and operating retail markets within distribution networks and energy communities.
