GENERAL
Biography
Professor Piedad Arenas Díaz is a distinguished figure at the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) with an extensive academic and professional background. An Industrial Engineer graduated from UIS, she has developed her career with an emphasis on ICT Management, particularly in the relationship among University, Industry, Government, and Society.
Focused on research and management, Professor Arenas Díaz has led projects such as Technical Assistance for the Assessment of IT Competencies at Ecopetrol in 2019 and served as principal investigator of the project Conceptualization and Instrumentalization of the Cooperation Model for Innovation Alianza UIS ECP.

At the regional level, she led the formulation of the Departmental Plan for Science, Technology and Innovation (PEDCTI) for the Department of Santander in 2020 and participated in the Oil and Gas Cluster Initiative of Santander and Magdalena Medio. At the international level, she coordinated the RED-SUMA Project, funded by the European Commission, and was part of the technical team of the Latin American Intellectual Property Network (PILA).
At UIS, she has held key roles, including Head of Human Resources, Director of the School of Industrial and Business Studies, and Director of Planning, contributing to academic progress and institutional development at the University.
