Description

Sandra Judith García Vergara is a Metallurgical Engineer. She began her research career in the Corrosion and Protection Group at the University of Manchester, where she completed her doctorate and subsequently served as an associate researcher. Her work on surface treatments was instrumental in developing a new model that explains the growth of anodic films on aluminum and its alloys, contributing to the advancement of strategic technologies for the aerospace and aeronautical sectors.

Since joining UIS in 2010, she has been an active member of the Corrosion Research Group (GIC), where she has led projects in the areas of coatings for light alloys, corrosion control, and heat treatments. At the same time, she has developed a line of research focused on engineering education, with an emphasis on the holistic development of students.

She has held various academic-administrative leadership roles, driving continuous improvement processes.
